Digest #6: Happy New Year. We made it; new is hard

January 3, 2025

We made it. It’s hard to believe she’s here. 2025.

I don’t know about you, but despite lots of rest and downtime over the past couple of weeks, I’m still feeling a bit unprepared to…well, get going.

Even with high expectations of this brand new & shiny year. And I am genuinely excited for lots of things that are on deck for 2025…for real.

But admittedly, today was not the pep-in-my-step start I was planning for. I was feeling a little frustrated earlier. And stuck. But I stopped. I called a friend.

And then took a few minutes to put my finger on what I was feeling. What I came up with is not that profound, but it did explain the moment, so I wanted to share it anyway.

NEW is hard.

A new job. A new house… whatever your version of new is, whether today or sometime this year…

It’s totally normal to have a confusing mix of

“I can’t wait” with “I want to pull the covers back over my head”.

It can be hard to shift from one gear to the next. And it’s OK if you’re not ready. I’m not.

That doesn’t mean you’re not going to do amazing things in 2025. It just may mean you need more time to land.

So allow yourself to land then… I’m pretty sure most still are.

As you thaw out of holiday-mode, my hope is you do so with lots of self-compassion. I needed this reminder today.

I’m excited for you. And I’m excited for me too. It’s going to be a great year. And to celebrate, I’ve dropped a few freebies and wanted to share with you all first!

No matter when your official start is, I hope this year sparks lots of joy and purpose in whatever you have planned.

Wishing you all the very best this year and beyond!

Alison
